June marks Pride Month around the world as a tribute to those involved in the 1969 Stonewall Riots and to commemorate the positive impact that LGBTQ+ owned community has had on history locally, nationally and internationally.

One way we can show support is by purchasing from LGBTQIA+ businesses and brands. We’ve made it easy for you by rounding up some of our favourites:

For the spice seeker

  • After visiting the US frequently for work and always returning with bottles of artisan chili sauce, but finding they were sadly scraping the bottom of the bottle far too quickly, Dean Smith and his partner decided to try out making their own. The amazingly positive reaction from their friends inspired the creation of Saucybitch – London’s own sauce. All completely vegan and made with fermented chilies, the pair have a knack for nailing flavours and the fermentation process. Saucybitch is a taste of London; they even have The Captain, the founders’ dog, featuring on the bottle as their mascot! The local community is ingrained in the sauces via The East London Chili Growers Collective – homegrown chilies gown and donated to the brand by those in the local area. Shop their collection of sauces here.

Self-care for the eco conscious

  • Born out of a lockdown love, founder of Limbo Candles Winnie Matthews recognised that people wanted their homes to feel cosy, inviting and warm – purely for their own comfort! Launched in November of the year that shall not be named, Winnie set out to make beautifully shaped soy way candles and equally as beautiful eco-friendly pots. We are loving the stacked candle look, and the shell candles are one of a kind! Visit Limbo’s Instagram here.

Calling all flower fanatics

  • If you’re a sucker for a bouquet, you HAVE to check these guys out. Princess & Ko are a London based florist founded by Dawid and Elias, who worked together at a larger, prestigious florist before realising they both really had a knack for it… like, really. This inspired them to start up their own florist, and they’ve taken the flower scene by storm. From one-of-a-kind wedding displays to a simple but stylish bouquet for your partner, these beautiful bunches are worth telling your friends about. What we particularly love is the classes they offer, such as Christmas wreath classes, flower crown classes, and (our favourite) terrarium classes! Even for those of us who perhaps don’t have the greenest of fingers, these guys are sure to impress. See their class photography here.

There aren’t just any doodles

  • Dandy was diagnosed with ME back in 2018, leaving her bed bound and unable to carry out normal, everyday activities. Having always been an avid doodler, Dandy picked up an iPad just before lockdown struck in 2020 and discovered she could express herself through digital drawing. The powerful illustrations helped her to communicate feelings around her illness and her sexuality, and she offered her talent up to other disabled LGBTQ+ people too. Dandy introduced a powerful representation of queer and disabled people that related to so many, and soon enough people were requesting commissions and paying for her work; Dandy Doodlez was born! Quite literally bossing it from her own bed. Browse her work here.
